  1. Lol when he was talking about not being sponsored by a tool brand was the only time I’ve heard him not sound excited about what he’s saying

  2. Chris, and anyone else with experience, once you have a good sized box and your tools, what do you recommend as a storage solution? For context my brother drove a tool truck so I have wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and pliers that I’m keeping, along with other misc. tools through harbor freight that also have a life time warranty. So all my hand tools are permanent fixtures I won’t be upgrading. Do you recommend basic rails, something like tool grid, or something more like kaizen foam? Taking into account price and long term durability. Thanks in advanced 🙂

  3. Just bought a Pittsburgh 225 piece mechanic toolset and I couldn’t be happier EXCEPT it skips 21 for whatever reason and I refunded my old tool set with a 21 so now I ddon’ have one

  4. i love how his tools never been touched , we got ouselves a tools collector mechanic , lots of those guys around specially if they have a garage in their houses xD , u knw where did i get my first wrench ? from a tire workshop close to home , it got the job done without spendin a dime xD

  5. I keep buying metric for my cars but every time i have something to fix, magically all my tools become imperial again.

  6. Bro aim from Malaysia I all ways watch your video for car diy bro pls make and about sound system upgrade aftermarket

  7. If you’re short on cash or need a lot of tools, look for estate sales.

Somebody’s pappaw dies with a garage full of great tools, but the heirs don’t know a hacksaw from a bearing press and just want to get rid of it.

  8. Tekton is an excellent brand in my experience and their warranty is great. It works just like the way you described Sonic’s warranty in the video

  9. Now hold on, don’t underestimate the use of the ADJUSTABLE WRENCH. They are so useful for aligning your tie rods, bolts that are smaller than 6mm and getting off oxygen sensors! I don’t see them as gimmicky, I see them as an essential to all beginner tool boxes. You only need 3 of them in different size.

  10. I’d go with tekton tools. They’re products are just as good or better versus snap-on tools. They sell only conplete set or individual. No more frustration as i have the complete set right there all in one package when i need it.

  11. My car has never seen a mechanic because of harbor freight tools + Great YouTube videos . I wish I had that red tool box you have . So cool . I work out of organized Walmart bins 😂

  12. Hey, man. Thanks for your inspiration and tips. I’ve done the service on the engine and transmission of my light truck. Already improved the fuel economy from 17mpg up to 20mpg. Planning to clean up my maf sensor and throttle body since the idling is a bit low but I’m very satisfied with its overall performance now.

  13. I am a diesel mechanic on trucks i use sockets deep shallow e torx 12 point in sizes up to 32 mm double open enders gedore up to 55 mm as for sizes above 32 mm open enders work well no need for combo spanners as long as you have deep sockets pliers hammers allen keys and you should be set

  14. Like no offense, but why is he blurring out the brand it’s like companies don’t care if the brand is shown on TV or YouTube it’s not like they care😂 Chris I’m sorry, but I don’t wanna make like a big offense

  15. Icon is that one honda with a laptop that can beat supercars cheap but it works and compares to the big names

  16. Hi, Chris!
Can you tell what would be the most versatile and convenient drive socket sizes for working with a car?
    1) 1/4 and 3/8
    2) 1/4 and 1/2, or
    3) 3/8 and 1/2
Would be perfect if you make a video with all bearing extractors that a car mechanic need. They intimidate me most of all – there are lots of them, and you do not know if they fit for every car, or you need different sets for different makes.

  17. I’ve been collecting small tools for over 65 years, keep looking at yard sales, flea markets, local online sales, offerup, etc, and don’t let people tell you harbor freight is junk, power tools there are not top quality, hand tools are very good, if you only have one job to do, even the power tools work decent, anytime you see used hand tools, think about if you can use them, if you can, don’t refuse them, keep collecting them, you will never regret it !!!
AND BE ‘VERY’ CAREFUL LOANING THEM OUT, avoid it if possible !!!

  18. Wera Tools are the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Expensive, world class, expensive. Better than any Ferrari ever dreamed of being. Expensive. I beat on my Wera tools like they owe me money.

  19. Where would you recommend buying a metric socket set? Really only finding combination sets with a bunch of nonsense in them

  20. The low prices are nice but take the time to check tool quality! My Pittsburgh torque wrenches never clicked, i think the QA is really spotty

  21. I’m 62, I inherited some of my tools from my dad, I’ll be passing my collection on, to my son and his son, when I’m ready to let go!

  22. My first socket set was from LIDL (cheap grocery shop, with honestly great tools) , but after 2 year of DIY car fxiing i choose BGS – my analogy is like VW, not cheap, not expensive, decent quality, made for german (so in real in Turkey ( mean country, no animal :D)

  23. How did you/where did you buy that organizer tray for the sockets + wrenches + Allen keys? Is that foam you cut out yourself!?

  24. “Hopefully the discount helps you guys, it’s up for a week”

My dumbass ran to the bio to yet find out the video came out 8 years ago

  25. One tool to add to the beginner tool essentials: adjustable wrench. I have had so many oh shit moments while fixing something on my car and ive misplaced the proper size wrench. Even if you know you have it, saves a lot of headache pausing what you’re working on to find it. Also, if you made the mistake of buying the harbor freight sets that don’t have the size you need, big help (this was the biggest for me lol)

  26. Been working on cars for years and started out with my dad’s tools. I have yet to find any other tools I’ve liked as much as his. The feel and just overall usability can’t be replicated today

  27. the icon set from harbor freight, is only like 10-20% less on test ratings than snap on for like 1/4th of the price, harbor freight moving up in the world, nipping at peoples heels.

  28. Stanley. Like a Ford, a timeless original.
Craftsman. Fancy. Expensive. Like a Cadillac that way. But, like a Cadillac is just a Chevy pile wrapped in fancy, Craftsman is good, just expensive stuff in fancy wrapping. Half of what you pay for is in the name.
